Wezizwe Foundation

Born from love. Built on Ubuntu. Driven by purpose.

Our Story

Why I started Wezizwe Foundation
There are moments in life that change the direction of everything. For me, it was watching someone I loved, someone full of potential, full of life, struggle simply because they didn’t have access to what so many of us take for granted. Not opportunity. Not talent. Just access.

I grew up understanding what it means to be part of a community that carries its own. Where neighbours fed each other’s children. Where a stranger’s problem became everyone’s problem to solve. That is Ubuntu, not a word on a motivational poster, but a lived reality that shaped who I am. Wezizwe Foundation was born in a moment of grief, of love and of a quiet, fierce determination that things could be different, that I could do something, however small, to change the reality for even one family, one child, one community.

"Wezizwe" means "builders of the nation" and that is exactly what we are called to be. People who came from these communities, who know these streets, these schools, these families and who refuse to walk away. Since August 2024, we have been doing exactly that, one food parcel, one school uniform, one blanket, one bursary at a time. And we are just getting started.

meet Our Founder

Hi there!
My name is Liziwe, the Founder of Wezizwe Foundation. I am a passionate community advocate dedicated to creating opportunities that uplift and empower vulnerable communities. With a background in marketing and a deep commitment to social impact, I established the Foundation to help remove barriers to education, improve community wellbeing and inspire lasting change through meaningful partnerships.
The Foundation holds a special place in my heart, as it is named after my daughter, Wezizwe. Her name serves as a daily reminder of the future we are all working to build, one where every child has the opportunity to learn, to grow and to realize their full potential. My family serves as a daily inspiration and  my passion for serving others.  My vision is to empower individuals and communities to thrive, creating a lasting legacy of hope, opportunity and positive change.
I welcome you on this journey with me.

Liziwe Mosley
